CHINESE COINS: FINAL PART OF ROBINSON COLLECTION TO BE AUCTIONED
Dealer Frank S. Robinson will auction the final part of his post-1889 Chinese coin collection with a closing date of October 2. Previous portions of this major collection were sold in Stacks/Ponterio Hong Kong auctions. This final offering comprises 125 lots, many of them scarce or unusual items. Also included is some numismatic literature, mostly pertaining to cast cash, again with some unusual items included.
Among the sale’s highlights is a 1932 (?) pattern dollar, a copper piece with no face designs but lettered edge; a Chihli Pattern Tael, ex-Daniel Ching; a rare Hupeh 1918 50 Cash; a Chinese Soviet 200 Cash restrike in BU; a Szechuan 20 cash of completely unlisted type; and a fascinating selection of Kansu cast “warlord” issues including 5 and 10 cash patterns and the rare 80 cash. The sale also includes some interesting tokens, fantasies, and copies.
There are no buyer fees or minimum bids. The full catalog, with color photos of all lots, can be found at www.fsrcoin.com/china.htm. Printed copies (no photos) can also be sent on request.
